The Great Sphinx of Giza  Excavated 1860s

The Great Sphinx is a sphinx sculpture located in the Gize pyramids region in Egypt's capital, Cairo.

It is the largest single-stone sculpture in the world, measuring 73.5 meters in length, 6 meters in width and 20 meters in height. A sculpture in the form of a head of a pharaoh with a head in the shape of a lying lion with a temple between its claws. It is thought that the lions were built for the protection of pharaonic graves and pyramids using sacred and magical powers for their sacredness in ancient Egyptian mythology. It is estimated that the face in the Sight Sphinx is the face of Kefren, one of the six ancient king pharaohs, who was believed to have ruled for 24 to 26 years in the capital Memphis during the Fourth Dynasty. It is believed to be the guardian of the Pyramids of Gize, as it welcomes the rising sun.
