Firman (imperial edict) of Sultan Mehmet II ( The Conqueror ) granting religious freedom to Bosnian clergy.
Copy of the imperial decree given to the Bosnian clergy by Sultan Mehmet Han.
"I, Sultan Mehmet Han, command the Bosnian priests that they may safely continue to worship in their churches and residein our country. None of my viziers or my people will offend them or injure their feelings. I swear upon God, his Prophet, the Holy Quran and sword that I have girded, that their lives, properties and churches will be under my protection as long as they obey me."
